Original by Robert jewelry was formed in New York City in 1942 by Robert Levy, David Jaffee and Irving Landsman.  Original by Robert designs consisted of floral motif's with the use of faux pearls, colored crystal, and high quality imported rhinestones from Europe. All jewerly was hand crafted and often expert jewelers would mistake the stones for genuine precious jewels. Because of the excellent design, materials and workmanship, the pieces sold at a high price. This firm also supply jewelry to the motion picture industry and can be seen in many old movies.
